Each Euro we spend contributes to shaping the world.
But how can we shape a better world?
We want to shape a better world through our role as consumers.
Inspired by the model of the japanese Seikatsu Club Consumer´s Co-operative Union, winner of the “right livelihood award” (http://www.seikatsuclub.coop/english/), we founded the association Nets.werk – Nachhaltig leben. The aim of the association is to promote a style of life and consumption that is sustainable, that is to say ecological, animal friendly, socially constructive and oriented towards the future.
Our aim is a worldwide network of people who wish to create ecological and social value in their role as consumers. We are trying to achieve our aim on two levels:
1. Through Information: we provide information about the local / regional / global relationships involved in our consumption and demonstrate possibilities for sustainable consumption. We organize lectures, seminars, courses, workshops and literature and DVDs can be borrowed from our Mediathek.
2. By offering sustainable products: we provide access to bio-regional-fair consumption products, whereby each “invested” euro has a positive regional, societal, animal friendly and ecological influence. We take particular care that our producers, mainly small and medium sized family businesses, receive fair, that is to say, good payment for their products.
In order to guarantee good prices for producers, we rely on a very simple retail method of pre-order and collection: consumers can order their products through internet (onlineshop) and can collect their fresh products on particular set days. We are considering introducing a delivery system in the future.
We have begun with food and we want to offer everything that one needs for daily life. At present consumers can choose from ca. 700 articles produced by organic farms in the region (bread and bakery products, eggs, vinegar and oils, fruit juices, grain, flour, apiary products, diverse products made from cow’s, sheep’s and goat’s milk (cheese, yoghurt, butter…).fruit, vegetables, tea, pasta…. Everything Organic of course.
We would be delighted to help people who feel inspired by these ideas to set up their own nets.werk.
Our aim is to function always on a local and regional basis in order to make the circulation (of relationships, products and money) easier to understand and thereby to make it once again possible to feel one is taking responsibility for our present and future world.
